Airbus chief sets out priorities for 2015

Airbus chief executive Fabrice Bregier has identified the airframers three new programmes as its priorities for 2015.

He says it will be pursuing a "very aggressive ramp-up" of the A320neo, moving to volume production of the A350, and "keeping on track" with the A330neo, the first flight of which is due next year.

The A320neo is set to enter service in the final quarter of this year, and Bregier says Airbus is aiming to reach "production of 500 to 600 aircraft a year as soon as possible".

Increasing output of the A350-900 – which will be given its commercial debut by Qatar Airways on 15 January – is "not a no-brainer" and remains a challenge, he says. "We want to be at rate five by the end of the year and at [rate] 10 by 2018."

Speaking at a briefing in Toulouse today, Bregier added that the switchover from the current A330 to the A330neo would be critical for Airbus's recently reshuffled senior management team.

"We will have a new focus on competition, not just how we can cut costs but how we can do things simpler and faster," he says.
